Would You Take a Cooking Course if You Could??

Have you ever taken a cooking course or even thought about it? If you don't like to cook... as is the case with me, I don't think that it ever occurred to me. But now that I think about it, I did work in a small little diner and I actually did do some of the cooking!  I had forgotten all about that!!

I think that I began to love quotes when I began to thumb through my mom's Women's Day magazines. They always devoted an entire page to quotes that were sent in by their readers. They were so thought provoking. I always looked forward to reading them.

An Easy Apple Pie

Making an apple pie can be kind of challenging. It might look taste okay, but it could look pretty nasty! I think that I have found a way so that it tastes good and looks good too. I simply roll out the pie dough and cut it into squares large enough to fold around an peeled apple that has been cored and  filled with brown sugar and some nuts.  Wrap the pie dough around the apple  and bake until the dough is nice and brown. Each person has their own apple pie and it looks pretty impressive!!

Before Flavored Lattees

Once upon a time, I ordered coffees that simply were laced with liquers. I think that my favorite was Monte Christo but most of the time, they added a full ounce  of the liquer and that was way too strong... but more about that later.

Then the flavored lattes hit the market and I stopped ordering my all time favorite... the Monte Christo.  For some reason, I started to think about those coffee drinks  and I'm ready to make my own.  They consisted of black coffee, an ounce or so of a liquer and then lots of whip cream. Does it get any better than that??

I was just looking at my drinks cabinet and I have half a bottle of Frangelico and a full bottle of Grand Marnier!  Now all I have to do is stock up on whipping cream and I'm ready to face the winter!

***Just think of the money you will start saving if you can make up your own recipes for coffee!!

Thursday

Sorting Out Your Pots and Pans Drawer

After 40 years... yeah I know, I have a lot of stuff in that drawer than I don't need. I have lids that don't go with any pots and they are just taking up room. So, today, I'm going to go through that drawer and remove all of those items that are of no use to me.

Actually I'm thinking of using that drawer for baking pans that I don't have to stack on top of each other. The drawer is big enough that they could all sit flat and I don't have to reach up, take all of them off of a shelf that is over my head and then pray that I don't drop them!

Who knows... I just might suddenly feel like baking a cake  tomorrow if I don't have to worry about dropping on of those glass baking dishes on my head!

All About Aprons

I was just thinking about all the aprons that I have seen during my lifetime. Yes, I'm kind of hooked on all things family tree and I don't think that I ever saw my grandmother without an apron. It wasn't the "neck to knee apron" but just a simple one that tied around here waste.  What do you remember about aprons??

I wonder if I would be more prone to baking something today if I put on an apron lol?? Alas... hubby has been hinting around that he would love a lemon poppy seed loaf. Just might have to surprise him!!

How To Cut An Onion...

I don't know who taught me to chop onions, but whoever it was, didn't know any more than I did. Apparently you aren't supposed ...
