Weeping Salad

Sliced Red OnionsImage via Wikipedia

You want to serve a salad for dinner, but someone used up all of the salad dressing?? This recipe is an old stand-by!

Ingredient list...

* 1 head lettuce
* mayonnaise
* 1 medium purple onion or sweet onion, sliced
* sugar
* left-over peas (you can use as much or as little as you want
* grated cheese or whatever kind of cheese you might have on hand
* 3 slices bacon, fried crisp and then crumbled

Directions
1. Wash and tear lettuce or whatever greens you are using into small pieces. Dump into a large bowl.

2. You can wing this... but scoop out a small amount of mayonnaise and drizzle over greens. (You are going to be layering the salad, so go easy.

3. Slice red onion and arrange over the lettuce. Now sprinkle a small amount of sugar over the onion.

4. Continue with a layer of peas and then some grated cheese.

5 Continue adding more layers of lettuce, mayonnaise, onion etc until all the ingredients are in the bowl.

6. Place a layer of foil over the bowl and transfer to the refrigerator for a couple of hours.

7. When you serve the salad you will find that the onion was "weeped" into the mayonnaise and formed the dressing. Before serving sprinkle with bacon bits and you are done.

Cooking is like love...

Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all.”

Well, I guess that is where I have been going wrong. I'm not sure that there is any aspect of cooking... other than the eating part that I actually like. Maybe if I enter into it with abandom might produce some results that I never thought about!

1/4 cup of whipping cream
1 T butter
1/4 cup finely chopped nuts

1. Chop half of the chocolate squares and place in a bowl that can be used in the microwave. Add cream and butter.

2. Nuke it on medium for about a minute and a half and then stir untill everything has been well blended.

3. Place mixture in refrigerator until firm. (This should take an hour or so)

4. Shape into 24 bite-sized balls.

5. Melt the remaining chocolate squares and then dip each truffle into mixture and then place on a wax paper lined baking sheet.

6. Sprinkle with nuts

*or if you want to get really fancy, you can roll them in cocoa, powdered sugar or other sprinkles!

Share if you want too lol... but you know that chocolate is good for the soul, so if you find that you can't share lol... don't feel too bad. ;)
