I really don't like cooked veggies... unless it's corn on the cob. Now, that you can quite easily talk me into! Now this broccoli salad is one that I don't think that anyone will push away. Now the hard part is setting portion controls lol!
To be honest, I am using the oldest paring knife in history. I have no idea just how old it is, but I can't remember when or where I bought it. All I know is that I'm comfortable with it. It doesn't scare me and just looking at new ones in the cooking shops... well they scare me. With my old one, I know what it can do. I have been using it for years and years!!
Does that make me crazy?? I'm sure that some of you will say Heck Yes! Go out and buy a new one.
My grandmother always wore a full sized apron over her house dress. I was just thinking about that. I don't think that I ever saw Nanny, not in a dress! But getting back to the apron. I wonder if they still make those full sized aprons. Actually, I don't even know if they make those aprons that tie around the waist.
Okay, I guess that I should tell you why I'm even talking about aprons! I was making spaghetti sauce yesterday... pretty much fry some onions and then pour the sauce of a can. Unfortunately, I never thought of the fact that I was wearing a white blouse! It is presently covered in little orange polka dots, thanks to the simmering sauce. I either will have to get an apron, or stop wearing white blouses when I try to cook. ;)
Off to buy or at least look for some rhubarb before it is all sold out. I literally lived on the stuff when I was a kid. Whenever I was hungry, I would snap off a stalk and sit down under a tree and eat away. And I guess we had a lot because Mom seemed to make all kinds of desserts out the stuff. We were just talking about it this morning. Hubby said that in England, they used to have stewed rhubarb and custard for desserts. I'm also thinking of making some rhubarb syrup to mix with ice water... to quench our thirst this summer when we come in from the garden. That should do it!!!
